Green's-function Monte Carlo study of the two-dimensional, spin-1/2 XY ferromagnet.

چکیده
The ground states of quantum spin 1/2 XY ferromagnetic triangular and square systems are investigated with the Green's function Monte Carlo (GFMC) method. Simulations are performed on L L two-dimensional lattices with L up to 19. The long range orders as well as ground state energies are obtained for both lattices and are extrapolated to innnite system size. The long range order (LRO) is computed directly using kernels from the system Hamiltonian and a `perturbed' Hamiltonian involving the LRO operator. It is seen that LRO exists in the innnite triangular lattice, contrary to conclusions drawn from previous exact diagonalization studies. The second-order spin-wave theory again appears to yield very good results on these systems.

Critical dynamics in the 2d classical XY-model: a spin dynamics study
Using spin-dynamics techniques we have performed large-scale computer simulations of the dynamic behavior of the classical three component XY -model (i.e. the anisotropic limit of an easy-plane Heisenberg ferromagnet), on square lattices of size up to 192, for several temperatures below, at, and above TKT . The temporal evolution of spin configurations was determined numerically from coupled eq...
متن کاملQMC simulations of Heisenberg ferromagnet
We use the Quantum Monte Carlo Stochastic Series Expansion (SSE) algorithm to investigate the properties of the one-dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnet. We consider the model for two spin values s = 1 2 and s = 1 and study the dependence of the specific heat, magnetisation, magnetic susceptibility and correlation functions on temperature and magnetic field. Obtained results are compared to those...
متن کاملMonte Carlo Study of a Mixed Spin-1 and Spin-3/2 Ising Ferromagnet
The magnetic properties of a mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Ising ferromagnetic system on a cubic lattice are studied by Monte Carlo simulation. In particular the effect of a single-ion anisotropy on the phase diagram is investigated. Some qualitative features of the phase diagram obtained by a cluster variational treatment of the same system are confirmed.
متن کاملAuxiliary-field Monte Carlo for quantum spin and boson systems
We describe an algorithm for the numerical simulation of quantum spin and boson systems. The method is based on the Trotter decomposition in imaginary time and a decoupling by auxiliary Ising spins. It can be applied, in principle, to arbitrary ~random! spin systems, however, in general it suffers from the ‘‘minus-sign problem.’’ This problem is absent in the case of the Ising model in a transv...
متن کاملNew quantum Monte Carlo study of quantum critical phenomena with Trotter-number-dependent finite-size scaling and non-equilibrium relaxation
We propose a new efficient scheme for the quantum Monte Carlo study of quantum critical phenomena in quantum spin systems. Rieger and Young’s Trotter-number-dependent finite-size scaling in quantum spin systems and Ito et al.’s evaluation of the transition point with the non-equilibrium relaxation in classical spin systems are combined and generalized. That is, only one Trotter number and one i...
